My first book, Sandsong, (St. Martin's Press) was accepted without a single word or image being changed. But because of poor promotion, I bought all the remaining copies. Sandsong features more than 100 photographs of my early sand sculptures (16 pages in color) and 3,000 words of text about this performance art.
I later formed Lynas_Press to publish and distribute The ABCs of Central Park, an alphabet guidebook for adults and children featuring many of the iconic images of Central Park. Recently I published The ABCs of Brooklyn, collaborating with photographer Peter Vadnai (now featured in MOMAs gift shop and on Amazon). In a few cases I have written and illustrated several other books which are in various stages of preparedness.
Tammy & Blue is nearly ready to be published even though book publishing is going through radical changes. My love of flying disc sports will eventually yield The Flying Disc in Flying Colors a coloring book for disc fans and fanatics. Happy Birthday Sandman is also nearly ready for press. It is about the life and recycling of a single sand sculpture which some children try to save from the tide.
Sandsong, The ABCs of Brooklyn and The ABCs of Central Park are all available here.
